** The setup charge is a one time charge applied only when Steel Marketplace initially designs the ad. Charges for modifying or updating an existing ad is a minimum charge of $100.00 + applicable taxes (please note, this is the minimum charge the actual charge may be higher).
This charge does not apply when the artwork – which meets our specifications provided.

Electronic Advertising Guidelines
Effective January 2021
Steel Marketplace magazine is fully set-up to receive electronic advertising via email, FTP or by disk, in either Macintosh or PC platforms, MAC is preferred. Note PC Users: We will accept properly prepared EPS and PDF files that require no modification.
The following is a list of procedures, software, and hardware which we support. Steel Marketplace will not be liable for any errors resulting from incorrect advertising materials received from an outside source which do not meet these specifications. We will attempt to ensure trouble-free output but the liability rests with the supplier of the advertising materials.
Electronic Material Deadlines
Your electronic advertising material must be received by Steel Marketplace no later than 4 days prior to magazine output. If for any reason the material cannot meet this deadline you must speak with your representative on alternatives.
Preparing files
To avoid reproduction problems:
- Include all printer and screen fonts and supporting graphics with your file. If fonts are not included, Steel Marketplace will attempt to match the missing fonts.
- Ensure all color is set for process separation /CMYK Printing. Knockouts and colour trapping are the responsibility of the advertiser.
- Confirm that the file is prepared to the size which it has been booked.
- If the ad is to run black & white, be sure that there are no colour components.
- Placed image reductions of more than 20% are not recommended.
- Ensure all images are in either TIFF or EPS format. When saving a file in EPS format, in the EPS Options Window, select Macintosh (8 bit/pixel) Preview and Binary Encoding. Do not use JPEG compression of any kind. Leave all other options unchecked. When saving the file in a TIFF format, set the Byte Order to Macintosh. Do not user LZW Compression.
Software/Hardware compatibility
Steel Marketplace is a Macintosh OSK computer environment and is equipped to receive files in the following software formats (Able to also work in lower software versions as well)
- Adobe InDesign CS5.5 or newer
- Quark Xpress 4.0 or higher
- Adobe Photoshop CS (saves as Binary EPS or uncompressed TIFF)
- Adobe Illustrator CS (saved as an Illustrator EPS with fonts outlined)
- Adobe Acrobat Professional PDF files
- Placeable EPS (with fonts outlines or text exported as curves)
Delivery Procedures
Please follow these steps for ad delivery:
- If multiple files are transmitted or sent on disk, clearly indicate filenames with publishing dates.
- Inform your steel marketplace representative of the time and method of transmission so that we know where and when to expect your files.
- Fax and/or Email a hard copy of the advertisement(s) to your Steel Marketplace rep.
E-Blast Information
